After-School Program Assistant and Group Belayer

Position: After-School Program Assistant and Group Belayer

Contract Length: 16 Weeks (September 6 – December 16) with anticipated extension until July 2021.
Hours: 5-15 hours/week, Monday – Friday 3:00 pm-5:45 pm. Weeknights and weekends as needed.

ARC is seeking a responsible and enthusiastic group leader and party host. If you love children and being active, then this is the job for you!

Our After-School program provides a great way for children to stay active and engaged while their parents are at work. While at ARC, kids will participate in structured rock climbing, crafts, and group games led by you, a Program Coordinator, and a co-assistant.

Additional opportunity to provide support in hosting and belaying for weekend group birthday parties, along with opportunity to grow into further roles for the right candidate exists.

What you’ll do:

  • Create a welcoming, safe, and fun environment for all participants
  • Facilitate the delivery of structured programming activities including rock climbing, group games, and arts and crafts
  • Be responsible for receiving participants from the bus drop-off point
  • Communicate professionally with parents on a daily basis
  • Ensure all program policies and procedures are implemented and carried out in day to day operations
  • Provide additional site support through general maintenance, program set up, and other tasks as needed

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience and enthusiasm in working directly with children
  • A customer-experience mindset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with members, parents, and staff
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment
  • Time management skills with the ability to plan, organize, and deliver programming goals
  • A strong desire to learn and improve
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-Level C

Bonus points if you:

  • Are bilingual
  • Have previous Day Camp experience
  • Have knowledge of climbing procedures and safety guidelines
