ARC is Sudbury’s Premiere Climbing and Yoga and Fitness Facility. Job Description:

ARC is seeking an enthusiastic manager to join our team. This position involves a wide variety of duties and responsibilities that aim to support and ensure the wellbeing of our members, staff, and the overall success of the facility. Some of the responsibilities will include:

Customer service – communication with members/guests/community

Scheduling

Staff relations – Hiring, communication and training (front desk, belayers, instructors)

Safety – weekly and monthly safety inspections of the facility

Inventory – weekly and monthly tracking and ordering of retail and rental stock

Special Events – scheduling and organizing (and delegating)

Qualifications and Experience •

Post secondary education an asset (but not required)
2-5 years of management or leadership experience
Background in business, marketing or project management
Experience with managing and delegating complex and multiple tasks,
Proficient in speaking, writing and reading English. French as asset.
Comfortable with computers (word and excel). Experience with Rock Gym Pro an asset. Website and social media management also an asset.
First Aid: (Basic required, advanced an asset)
Handy work capabilities an asset
Comfortable on ladders, and working at height
Passion for climbing and other forms of fitness and well being

Completing cash sales
Facility orientation for new guests
Light cleaning duties – sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting

Position: After-School Program Assistant and Group Belayer

Hours: 5-15 hours/week | Monday – Friday 3:00 pm-5:45 pm for Afterschool. Weeknights and weekends for Group Belayer.

Our After-School program provides a great way for children to stay active and engaged while their parents are at work. While at ARC, kids will participate in structured rock climbing, crafts, and group games led by you, a Program Coordinator, and a co-assistant.

Additional opportunity to provide support in hosting and belaying for weekend group birthday parties, along with opportunity to grow into further roles for the right candidate exists.

What you’ll do:

Create a welcoming, safe, and fun environment for all participants
Facilitate the delivery of structured programming activities including rock climbing, group games, and arts and crafts

Position: March Break Camp Counsellor
Contract Length: March 11th-15th with some training before the camp starts – training day/time is flexible

What you’ll do:

Responsible for the implementation of camp programs at ARC.
Responsible for providing support to the coordinator and assist in supervising, teaching and leading the youth attending the programming
Assist in creating a welcoming, safe program environment for all participants.
Facilitate programs such as rock climbing, co-operative games, and arts and crafts
Ensure all program policies and procedures are implemented and carried out in day to day operations
Professionally communicate directly with clients, both the children attending the camp and their parents on a daily basis.

Summer Camp Program Coordinator

Position: Youth Summer Camp Program Coordinator
Contract Length: 12 Weeks (June 15th-September 4th), Possible extension to part-time work during the school year
Hours: 40/hr a week, Monday to Friday. Weeknights and weekends as needed.
Pay: $19/hour

What You’ll do:
• Responsible for the creation and delivery of Summer day camp programming specifically targeted toward youth ages 5 – 13.
• Provides support, training, and mentoring to all day camp staff and volunteers
• Responsible for scheduling, performance management, and program timeline preparation for Camp Counsellors
• Assist with the development of the budget and operational plan for ARC Day Camps
• Ensure all program policies and procedures are implemented and carried out in day to day operations
• Communicate directly with clients, both the children attending the Summer Camps and their parents on a daily basis.
• Work as a liaison between ARC Summer Camp Staff and ARC Climbing and Yoga Staff

Qualifications:

Experience in a supervisory role

Route Setter

Position: Route Setter – Top Rope/Lead & Bouldering

Salary: Starting $17.90/hour; commensurate with experience

Position: Part-time (4-10 hours a week)

We are looking for Route Setter(s) to join our team. Preference will be given to candidates that can demonstrate relevant work and climbing experience, and suitable availability.

Duties:

Set routes and boulders in a commercial climbing environment
Participate in forerunning shifts to maintain route quality control
Work as part of collaborative setting team
Accept and provide constructive feedback on route quality
Contribute to consensus on route and boulder grades
Inspect setting equipment and report safety issues promptly
Maintain setting equipment and wash climbing holds
Assist in setting and organization of climbing competitions and provide support during other events
Report to the Head Route Setter, and the ARC management team

Who you are:

A passionate climber, with comprehension of a variety of climbing movements and styles
Ability to climb ~5.11 and ~V4 in a variety of styles
Competent at indoor (gym) lead climbing
Proficiency in basic computer skills (office, Gsuite, email)
Diplomatic and outgoing personality, capable of fostering relationships with facility users and staff

Additional assets:

A diverse approach to climbing/route setting relative to the current route setting team (including but not limited to, morphology, gender, and climbing ability)

Coordination and compilation of newsletters and promotional emails
Event promotions and press communication

Who you are:

A passionate climber with substantial climbing experience
Experience developing and delivery rock climbing instruction to children, youth and adults.
Experience in a supervisory role would be an asset
Personal competitive climbing experience is an asset
Diplomatic and outgoing personality, capable of fostering relationships with facility users and staff
Post-secondary training or a degree is an asset: Personal trainer, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Health Related Fields – Psychology or Sociology

Job Description:

ARC is seeking a highly motivated Hot Power Yoga Instructor to join our team. ARC offers a broad range of classes appropriate for all levels, with a focus on supporting our yogis in their respective practices, whether through modifications, adjustments or ongoing communication. We welcome teachers of any style to apply to begin teaching in the capacity of our Karma (community-based) classes. Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for teachers who possess:

An eagerness to contribute to and be involved with the local community
RYT 200 certification (or equivalent)
Experience teaching a variety of ages and groups, both large and small
A desire to grow one’s practice

Also preferred but not required:

French an asset. (Proficiency in speaking English required.)
First Aid

After School Program Coordinator

Position: After-School Program Coordinator

Hours: 15-20 hours/week, Monday – Friday 3:00pm-5:30pm plus planning hours during the week. Opportunities for more hours are available if interested.

Starting Pay Rate: $18/hour

About: ARC is seeking a responsible and enthusiastic coordinator for our After School Program. If you love children and being active, then this is the job for you!

What you’ll do:

Create a welcoming, safe, and fun environment for all participants
Plan and facilitate the delivery of structured programming activities including rock climbing, group games, and arts and crafts
Follow a predetermined budget to obtain program supplies as needed
Be responsible for receiving participants from the bus drop-off point, and picking up participants from R.L. Beattie (walking distance)
Communicate professionally with parents on a daily basis
Supervise other program instructors and ensure all program policies and procedures are implemented and carried out in day to day operations
Provide additional site support through general maintenance, program set up, and other tasks as needed

Youth Team Coach

Position: Youth Team Coach

Pay rate: Commensurate with experience

Hours: 4 hours/week, Wednesdays 6-8pm and Sundays 4-6pm.

About: ARC is seeking a motivational Youth Team Coach to join our team. This position centres on the development of young climbers. You will create a welcoming and supportive environment where climbers can develop their strengths and discover a lifelong passion for the sport.

Working at ARC requires a positive attitude, great work ethic, flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to making ARC the most enjoyable experience for our members, guests, and the rest of the team. At ARC we aim to provide a fun, safe, and challenging environment where people can discover their strengths, continually redefine their boundaries, and conquer their fears.

What you’ll do:

Coach climbing movement, techniques and fitness to the members of the Youth Teams (kids ages ~11-17, sometimes split into two groups based on age/climbing experience).
Teach belaying (top rope, and potentially lead)
Design and coach two practices per week (Wednesday 6-8pm and Sundays 4-6pm; excluding weekends near holidays)
Sessions include warm-ups, technique drills, bouldering, ropes climbing, climbing-based training, and use of strength training equipment
Mentor young enthusiastic climbers
Communicate with parents
Prepare climbers for competitions
Potential to join them at competitions (at ARC and other competitions in the province)

What you’ll bring::

A passionate interest in rock climbing,
Knowledge of a variety of climbing movements and styles
Experience working with kids
Proficiency in basic computer skills (office, Gsuite, email)
Availability for (minimum) Wednesdays 6-8pm and Sunday 4-6pm.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with members, parents, and staff
Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment
Time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and deliver programming goals

Background in athletics and exercise
