Head Route Setter/ Climbing Coach

Position: Head Route Setter and Head Climbing Coach

Salary: Negotiable, to commensurate with experience

Position: Part time to full time hours with benefits

We are looking for a Head Route Setter and Climbing Coach to join our team.  This could be 1 person or 2. Preference will be given to candidates that can demonstrate experience in both roles.

 

Head Route Setter

What you’ll do:

  • Implement and maintain a setting program for all routes and problems in the gym – ensuring grades distribution and route turnover is adequate for our customers
  • Provide quality assurance of all setting in the gym – both quality, consistency and grading
  • Provide supervision, training, guidance and development for the route setting crew
  • Provide oversight of our equipment safety inspections and ensure issues are promptly addressed
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures for route setting duties.
  • Engage with our staff and membership to solicit feedback and ensure our route setting meets the needs of the community
  • Organize and assist in manager ARC rock climbing competitions and provide support during other ARC events.
  • Report to the ARC gym manager

Who you are:

  • A passionate climber with substantial setting experience
  • Able to set 5.13 routes and V9 grades
  • Experience in a supervisory role would be an asset
  • Diplomatic and outgoing personality, capable of fostering relationships with facility users and staff
  • Strong leadership, initiative and interpersonal communication skills
  • A passion for climbing and for continued personal and professional development
  • Industry certifications in the field of climbing (ACMG CGI 1 or equivalent) an asset.
  • Fluency in basic computer skills (office, Gsuite, email).

 

Head Climbing Coach

What you’ll do:

  • Manage, deliver and develop climbing instruction programming at ARC including:
    • Belay certifications
    • Lead climbing certifications
    • Technique courses
    • Outdoor climbing courses
  • Develop and grow our pre-competitive and competitive climbing teams
  • Coordinate the delivery of ARC’s Youth Rec program
  • Train and supervise climbing instructors to ensure high quality programming with the goal of increasing participation and retention of youth and adult members.
  • Identify opportunities for developing and provide additional programs and content
  • Communicate with athletes and parents to promote programs and ensure positive ARC experiences

Who you are:

  • A passionate climber with substantial climbing experience
  • Experience developing and delivery rock climbing instruction to children, youth and adults.
  • Experience in a supervisory role would be an asset
  • Personal competitive climbing experience is an asset
  • Diplomatic and outgoing personality, capable of fostering relationships with facility users and staff
  • Post-secondary training or a degree is an asset: Personal trainer, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Health Related Fields – Psychology or Sociology

Yoga Studio Manager

About ARC Climbing & Yoga:
We are looking for a Yoga Studio Manager to join our team.
ARC is Sudbury’s Premiere Climbing and Yoga and Fitness Facility. ARC features over 7000 sq. Ft. of
indoor rock climbing including 35-foot-high climbing walls and bouldering, as well as a beautiful 900 sq.
Ft. yoga studio. ARC is a community-oriented lifestyle fitness facility offering indoor climbing and daily
yoga classes to help you balance and optimize how you move through life.

Yoga Studio Manager
What you’ll do:
This position involves a wide variety of duties and responsibilities that aim to support and ensure the
wellbeing of our members, staff, and the overall success of the Yoga Studio.
Some of the responsibilities will include:
– Customer Service – communication with members, guests and community
– Yoga Teacher Staffing – Hiring, communication and orientation
– Scheduling and Pay roll
– Workshops and Special Events – scheduling and organizing
– Marketing – communicate with the Marketing Coordinator to promote Yoga Programs
– Yoga Studio – Ensuring the studio is safe, clean and a comfortable environment for teachers and
members
– Inventory – tracking and ordering of yoga retail, rental stock and studio equipment

Who you are:
– A passionate Yogi with experience practicing various styles of yoga. Experience teaching yoga is
an asset, but not necessary.
– You can describe the various styles of yoga that ARC offers
– You have experience in a supervisory or management role.
– You have a diplomatic and outgoing personality, capable of fostering relationships with facility
users and yoga teachers.

YOGA TEACHER – INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR AGREEMENT

• Post-secondary education an asset (but not required)
• Proficient in speaking, writing and reading English. French as asset.
• Comfortable with computers (word and excel). Experience with Rock Gym Pro an asset. Website
and social media experience or management also an asset.
• First Aid: (Basic required, advanced an asset)
• Organized, accountable, reliable.
• Honest, friendly and approachable.
• Able to provide and receive constructive feedback
• Team player and leader
• Able to identify problems and create solutions
